California Pool Fence Requirements

Here's what California law requires for pool barriers in Indio:

Best Materials for Pool Fencing

Aluminum fencing is our top recommendation for pools. It never rusts, handles pool chemicals and splash water perfectly, and comes in beautiful ornamental styles. The open design doesn't block your view of the pool from the house, which is important for supervision. Self-closing, self-latching gates are standard with aluminum systems.

Vinyl fencing also works great for pools. It's completely impervious to water and chemicals, requires zero maintenance, and provides more privacy if that's what you want. Vinyl's solid panels give you a more enclosed pool area, which some homeowners prefer for privacy and wind protection.

We don't typically recommend wood for pool areas in Indio. The combination of pool splash, irrigation, and our climate means wood requires constant maintenance near water. Metal fencing can work, but make sure it's powder-coated or vinyl-coated to prevent rust from chlorine exposure.
